Please arrive at the airport at least 15 minutes before your scheduled flight time. Flights are often booked back-to-back, and on-time arrival helps everything run smoothly. After turning into the airport from Litchfield Road, drive to the end of West Goodyear Parkway. Parking is available at Lux Air Jet Centers or in the terminal parking lot. Your pilot will meet you inside the Lux Air Jet Centers building.
You’ll meet your pilot and review the plan for your flight, including how hands-on you want to be and whether aerobatics are included. This is also the time to ask questions and discuss your comfort level. A short safety briefing covers seat belts, canopy operation, headset use, and what to expect during engine start, taxi, takeoff, and landing.
The T-6 Texan has a roomy rear cockpit with an adjustable seat. You’ll climb onto the wing and step down into the cockpit with assistance as needed. Once seated, your pilot will help secure your harness and headset. You’ll have time for photos before engine start if you’d like.
When the radial engine starts, you’ll hear, feel, and smell what made WWII aircraft so distinctive. Taxiing out is part of the experience and gives you time to get comfortable before takeoff. Friends and family are welcome to watch from the ramp and capture photos or video.
Takeoff in the T-6 is powerful and smooth. Once airborne, your flight unfolds based on the experience you selected and your preferences. If you’d like to fly the airplane, you’ll have the opportunity to take the controls and feel how the T-6 responds. If aerobatics are included, maneuvers are discussed beforehand and flown smoothly, with intensity adjusted to your comfort level. Throughout the flight, communication is easy using the provided noise-canceling headset.
After landing, you’ll taxi back to the ramp and shut down just like military training flights did decades ago. You’ll have time for photos, questions, and a post-flight debrief. You’ll also receive your Legends Warbird Rides T-6 flight certificate after the flight.
Cockpit and wingtip video is typically captured during the flight when available and provided afterward. You’re also welcome to bring a camera or phone, provided you can maintain control of it at all times. Neck straps are strongly recommended.
Friends and family are welcome to attend. They can watch engine start, taxi, takeoff, and landing from the ramp. During the flight, guests may relax inside the Lux Air Jet Centers lounge with restrooms and seating.
Warbird flying is weather-dependent. If conditions are unsafe or would result in a poor experience, your pilot may cancel, modify, or shorten the flight. Weather-related cancellations are rescheduled for the next available date.
No prior flying experience is required. Flights are tailored to your comfort level, whether you want a relaxed introduction or a more dynamic experience. Dress comfortably for the season and wear close-toed shoes.
