During the summer months it will be warm in the cockpit, so wear comfortable clothing like a short sleeve shirt, shorts or pants. Winter months are a little cooler, so you can wear a light jacket. Please wear close-toed shoes. A hat and sunglasses are nice to have too.
Yes, we provide a Bose A20 noise canceling headset. You can also bring your own if you like. The airplane uses standard 2-jack headsets.
Please arrive at the airport no later than 15 minutes prior to your schedule flight time. Many times flights are booked back-to-back, so arriving on time is appreciated!
After turning into the airport from Litchfield Road, please drive all the way to the end of W Goodyear Parkway. You may park at Lux Air Jet Centers or in the terminal building parking lot. Your pilot will meet you inside the Lux Air Jet Centers building.
Yes of course! Please be able to maintain control of your camera or mobile phone during the flight. A neck strap is a good idea for cameras. Please do not bring cameras with long lenses as they can easily scratch the canopy plexiglass. Please note that if you drop any items, due to the T-6 cockpit floor layout you will not be able to retrieve them until after landing.
The T-6 Texan has one seat for the pilot, and one seat for the passenger who sits behind the pilot in a very roomy and comfortable rear cockpit.
Yes! Regardless of your experience, once airborne your experienced pilot and flight instructor will give you a chance to take the controls and see what it's like to fly this amazing warbird. But don't worry, if you just want to sit back and watch while your pilot does all the flying, that's okay too. If aerobatics are planned for your ride, your pilot will be on the controls during this part of the flight.
Aerobatics are the maneuvers that you might see an aircraft do at an airshow. T-6 aerobatic maneuvers are large and graceful. If you choose the flight with the aerobatics add on, we will do wing overs, aileron rolls, barrel rolls, loops and Cuban 8s. The maneuvers are done with increasing intensity depending on your input and desires. The pilot will talk you through everything, go at a pace that's comfortable for you, and make sure you have a fun experience. Here are some points to note:
We can generally take a passenger who weighs 300 lbs or less. The seat height is adjustable, and the cockpit is surprisingly roomy and comfortable.
The passenger must be able to climb onto the wing and then climb up into the cockpit. The passenger must also be able to open the canopy from the inside and climb out unassisted.
Passengers must be at least 12-years old. Please note that all passengers are required to sign an assumption of risk waiver and indemnity agreement at the time of their flight. Passengers must also be able to open the canopy from the inside and climb out of the aircraft unassisted. Any passenger under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign for them.
Absolutely, the more the merrier! Anyone attending will be able to view the aircraft starting, taking off and landing. During the flight, your guests can wait inside the climate controlled Lux Air Jet Centers lounge area with restrooms. There will be photo opportunities before and after the flight with the aircraft. We want everyone to enjoy the experience and have a great time!
There are a number of reasons why we may cancel your flight due to the weather. We will not take you up on a day where you will not be thrilled with your flight or if it is unsafe to fly. Your pilot has the authority to cancel, change, or shorten a flight due to weather or other variables. If we have to cancel your flight due to inclement weather we will gladly reschedule your flight for the next best date.
